MY TRAINING

My clinical training came from Lesley University (then a College) and I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Massachusetts. I have worked with individuals, families and groups for over 20 years. I work with people from diverse backgrounds, races, professions and genders.

I was lucky to born into a time of many great teachers, and I am deeply grateful for the many conscious beings that continue to come my way at the right time. Some of my favorite trainings have been: Yoga, Rebirthing and Breathwork, Technologies for Creating, the Robert Moss School for Dreamwork, Shamanic Healing, EST, and later the Landmark Forum, Systems Centered Therapy of Yvonne Agrazarian, Quantum Touch, The Silva Method, School for Mediumship, Griefwork, EMDR, TFT, Proprioceptive Writing, The Movement Work of Gabrielle Roth, and the Inquiry Work of Byron Katie.

MY PERSONAL STORY

As a child of a career military officer, I grew up on the move, and by the age of 11, lived in four countries. There was both richness and challenge in this lifestyle, as there was constant change, and a continual need to let go. Growing up, my heart was opened by the magnificent beauty of the Alps of Austria, the Black Forests of Germany, and the oceans, lakes and forests of the East Coast. My mother, always a spiritual seeker, brought to my attention the works of Edgar Cayce, the medical intuitive from Virginia Beach. Her own mother communicated freely with departed loved ones, saw more of future events than she asked for, and read the 91st Psalm regularly for comfort. Both of these women were key influences in my development, and instilled in me an optimistic faith in the forces that are unseen but ever available to anyone willing to be open to them. In 1966 my father was sent to Vietnam and there began for me a dark period in my adolescent years. But by the time I was 19; I had discovered Yoga, TM, natural foods, etc. and began to ride the waves that were being created in the human potential movement of the 60's and 70's. In the 20+ years that followed I lived the multilayered experiences of marriage, motherhood, business and education. Those years led me to appreciate the depth and complexity that shape us as human beings, and how what is most difficult can also bring great joy. Finding the potential and gifts within the heart of my losses has forged strengths I would not have otherwise known, and I have been witness to this time and again within my relationships and practice.

The medium John Holland says that we forget our soul when we leave childhood, and we spend our lifetime trying to find it. We do not realize how close we are to it because we don't make the time to nurture the relationship. I believe that ageing offers increased opportunity to nurture that connection. As I reflect on my own life and its challenges, I am compelled to keep moving in the direction that calls out from a place deep inside that feels I am not yet done. Paradoxically I am aware of an unlimited sense of myself and understand the freedom that comes from accepting real limits. Some things are over, and some have just begun.
